Photo Contest Deadline Extended

New Deadline: 12:00 noon,  Friday, September 30, 2011

In light of all of the hurricane preparations, experiences and cleanup, we’ve extended the GPF Photo Contest through to the end of September. So get out those cameras or dig through your boxes of photos! The contest is open to all–residents & non-residents of all ages.

The three categories include:

Great Pumpkin Festivals Past - Photos of any kind taken at one of the last four North Smithfield Great Pumpkin Festivals. Showcase the spirit of the event!

Pumpkin Art - Photos that feature carved pumpkins, painted pumpkins or pumpkins featured in a decorative arrangement. May be taken anywhere at any time of year.

Tourist Pumpkins - Photos of pumpkins caught visiting any of North Smithfield’s many landmarks. Be creative! In addition to the popular landmarks around town, there are many highly recognizable but unofficial landmarks and several less recognizable but official landmarks that many aren’t even aware of. (Can you place the historically significant tree in our photo?) Imitation pumpkins welcome.

The winner of each category receives a $25 American Express gift card, $50 gift certificate to Bhatia Images (redeemable for prints, sitting fees or merchandise,) and an enlargement of their winning print.

Some prints (winning and non) will be selected to tour around North Smithfield at various locations in October.  You can win prizes AND get visibility around town in October!

Ancients and Horribles Trophy!

The Great Pumpkin Festival entered a small float in the 4th of July Ancients and Horribles Parade in Glocester and won a trophy! There were many many “small floats” and we came in 3rd place. A big shout out to Mary McDonald and her family for pulling this together and to Katrina Therien and her family for taking part!
